The White Sox have claimed Manny Ramirez on waivers from the Dodgers.

Point of Clarification: why?

Seriously, is there something I’m missing? I know a lot of people think this is a good move, and that it brings the White Sox the true DH they’ve been lacking this season. Still, I have to ask, why? 4 million to rent Manny Ramirez for 4 weeks when we could have had Thome all season for 1.5?

Why him? Anybody have an idea?
